More On Ronda Rousey Possible WWE Return – As noted earlier today, WWE is pushing to have Ronda Rousey make her big return to the squared circle.
Dave Meltzer confirmed the story about WWE pushing to get Ronda Rousey for the Royal Rumble on Saturday. Meltzer added that Rousey is definitely on the books for WrestleMania 38 and her being at the Rumble this Saturday would set up her Mania match.
Meltzer said that when he asked about Rousey being a surprise for the Rumble, it was not denied to him and some notes about her involvement at WrestleMania were confirmed. It was said that there are plans on the table for her return.
Rousey has not wrestled since WrestleMania 35 in 2019 where she lost the Raw Women’s Championship in a Triple Threat Match in a match that also involved Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.
There were talks to bring her back much sooner but the pandemic and her pregnancy delayed those plans. As noted in the past, WWE wanted to do a Rousey vs. Lynch singles match at last year’s WrestleMania. It’s unclear if that is the plan for this year.
Rousey noted back in October that she was ready to resume training. WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan stated in early 2021 that Rousey would be back “soon” but that was before she announced the pregnancy. Rousey’s original WWE contract was reportedly set to expire in April of last year.
