WWE RAW Results – May 17, 2021 – Tonight’s WWE RAW opens with Bobby Lashley walking in the back and he is joined by a group of ladies on his way to the ring.

— We’re live from the WWE ThunderDome at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida as MVP is in the ring and he introduces the WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. We take a look back at last night’s WWE Championship match during WrestleMania Backlash.

Porter says he had a surprise for Bobby.   Porter says what Bobby did last night was Herculean.  He beat two of the toughest, strongest, and meanest compeittors on the roster.  Strowman is nursing broken ribs.  Drew couldn’t even get out of bed this morning.  Lashley was sent through an LED screen and he was able to come back and take his WWE Championship.  Porter says Bobby did all of that while injured.  Bobby shows his hand and Porter says he hurt his hand punching Braun and Drew so much.   Porter asks when will the All Mighty Era end and Bobby says it will never end. Porter says tonight was supposed to be a night of celebration and he was supposed to have the night off.  Porter says on behalf of the champion, he is issuing an open challenge for anyone in the locker room…

Drew McIntyre’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring. 

Drew takes the mic from Porter and he says that is a fantastic idea.  What a fighting champion.  He can’t think of another way to impress his lovely ladies than Lashley versus McIntyre for the WWE Championship tonight. Drew says he accepts the challenge.

Porter says that Drew was rude and disrespectful and Porter says he did not finish.  The challenge was for anyone but Braun or you.  He tells Drew to get to the back of the line.

Lashley tries to punch Drew and Drew punches Lashley.  Lashley goes to the floor while Bobby’s Beauties are screaming in the ring. We go to commercial.

Elias vs. AJ Styles

Elias with chops to Styles and Styles with a drop kick.  Elias blocks a suplex and hits a suplex of his own.  Styles sends Elias into the turnbuckles and hits a back breaker.  Elias with shoulders in the corner followed by forearms and kicks.  Elias with a forearm in the corner.  Elias with an Irish whip and Styles slides into the corner and Elias with a baseball slide that sends AJ into the ring post and then to the floor.  Elias sends AJ back into the ring but he keeps his eyes on Omos.  Elias with a kick and then he hot shots AJ onto the apron.  Elias sends AJ back into the ring.  AJ clotheslines Elias over the top rope to the floor and AJ with a slingshot forearm on the floor.

We go to commercial.

We are back and AJ punches Elias but Elias with a back body drop.  Elias with a spinebuster for a near fall.  Elias gets another near fall.  Elias with a reverse chin lock.  Elias with a knee drop to the chest for a near fall.  Elias with a reverse chin lock.  AJ with elbows and Elias with a snap mare.  AJ with an enzuigiri.  AJ with a flying forearm.  AJ with punches and kicks.  Elias with a double sledge but AJ with a Pele Kick and an Ushigoroshi for a near fall.  Elias counters a Styles Clash attempt with a sunset flip but AJ tries for another Styles Clash.  Elias escapes and hits a jumping knee followed by Drift Away for a near fall.  

Elias gets AJ on his shoulders but AJ iwth forearms to escape.  AJ with a drop toe hold that sends Elias into the turnbuckles.  Elias with a chop and AJ chops back.  AJ with a forearm and Ryker pulls AJ off the apron on a Phenomenal Forearm attempt and the referee calls for the bell.

Winner:  AJ Styles (by disqualification)

After the match, Ryker draws Omos up the ramp and that allows Elias to send AJ into the ring steps.  Omos makes his way back to ringside and Elias runs like he stole something.

— Alexa Bliss is in her playground with Lilly and she mentions that she will have Tamina and Natalya as guests.

We go to commercial.

— We are back with comments from Johnny Gargano about tomorrow night’s title defense against Bronson Reed for the North American Championship inside a steel cage.

— We take a look back at the eight man tag match from last week.

Backstage:

Riddle is in the back and he is pacing.  Xavier and Kofi show up.  Kofi says they got his message and Woods says he wants to see the snake.  Riddle says we will find it and Randy Orton shows up.  Orton wants to know where Pearce is.  Woods says Riddle said there was a two headed snake.  Orton says that sounds like it is about him.  Orton wants to know where Pearce was.  Riddle says he may have stretched the truth.  Riddle suggests making the party of two into a party of four.  What if Randy apologizes to the New Day.

Orton says he is not going to apologize.  Kofi says he has know Randy longer than Riddle and he tells Riddle he will get an RKO. Orton threatens to give Kofi an RKO. Kofi suggests they do it in the ring.  Just like 2009 and 2019. Randy accepts the challenge and tells Riddle to shut up.

Alexa’s Playground:

Alexa is with Lilly and Alexa says they have two new friends to play with them on the playground, the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Natalya and Tamina.

Natalya says it was tough to beat two of the toughest people and it was also Tamina’s first title. Tamina wants to know if they can leave. Alexa says she hasn’t asked the tough question yet.  She says Lilly wants to know what is your favorite color. Natalya says it is pink.  Tamina says it is black and blue, which will look great on your face if you try anything weird. Alexa says that is not very nice. Alexa says that Tamina is lucky because Lilly likes her and Alexa asks about Tamina beating up Reginald.  Tamina says she has no problem swatting Reginald again if he gets involved.  

Alexa starts to talk about Lilly and then Tamina and Natalya walk away.  Alexa asks if it was something they said.  Alexa wishes them luck and she says they will be watching.

Angel Garza vs. Drew Gulak

Gulak with a drop kick when the bell rings followed by an exploder and a rear chin lock.  Gulak with an abdominal stretch and he pulls the leg off the mat for extra pressure.  Garza with a hip toss.  Garza with a clothesline and a slap and clothesline.  Garza with a slingshot reverse suplex and a drop kick.  Gulak with punches and Garza with a punch of his own.  Garza sets for a butterfly back breaker and hits it.  Garza with a knee and he sets for the Wing Clipper and hits it for the three count.

Winner:  Angel Garza

After the match, Garza gets his rose out of the corner and he shoves it down Gulak’s throat.

Backstage:

We see R Truth against the wall and Kevin Patrick asks Truth what’s going on and Truth says Truth is on vacation.  Truth says he has to keep a low profile because there is an open challenge for his title. Kevin tells Truth the open challenge is from Bobby Lashley.  Truth is happy to know that it isn’t him. Truth goes on until Akira Tozawa rolls him up from behind to win the title. Tozawa says the tables have now turned. Tozawa runs off with the 24/7 Title. Truth yells out and says he’s tired.

— Randy Orton and Riddle make their way to the ring as we go to commercial.

— We are back with an Eva Marie photoshoot and she says she has made it.  She says that she sees herself as a Super Role Model.  She has everything she ever wanted and she wants others to see their dream come true. 

Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston

Out next comes The New Day – Kofi Kingston with Xavier Woods. The bell rings and they go at it. Orton takes Kofi down first with a headlock as Riddle cheers him on from ringside. They hit the ropes and Orton drops Kofi with a shoulder. They run the ropes again and Kofi leaps up, colliding his hip with Orton’s face. It looked like they hit hard there and Orton immediately rolled to the floor to regroup.

Kofi follows and Orton fights him off. Orton brings it back in the ring but Kofi nails a big arm drag, and another for a 2 count. Kofi with more offense for another 2 count. Orton turns it back around with a bit of a cheap shot as some fans boo. Orton with big uppercuts in the corner now. Orton manhandles Kofi some and uses the middle rope as the referee warns him.

Orton stomps on Kofi’s leg and taunts him. Kofi kicks out at 2. Orton grounds Kofi with a chinlock now. Fans try to rally for Kofi as Riddle and Woods keep ranting from ringside. Kofi fights up and out of a hold but Orton rocks him with a headbutt. Orton whips Kofi into a corner but Kofi nails a missile dropkick. Orton goes down and clutches his shoulder.

Kofi with big strikes and another dropkick for a pop. Kofi goes on but Orton catches him with a big powerslam. Woods starts playing Francesca at ringside, distracting Orton. Kofi takes advantage and rolls Orton from behind for the pin to win.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

After the match, Riddle hits the ring to calm Orton down while Woods joins Kofi to celebrate. Orton wants to go at Kofi but Riddle holds him back. Riddle has words with The New Day while Orton seethes and makes his exit. Riddle follows but stops and turns around to shove Woods to the mat out of frustration. Kofi holds Woods back now as Riddle follows Orton up the ramp and to the back.

Backstage:

Naomi, Lana, Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke are in the back with Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville. They’re arguing about who deserves the next title shot. Charlotte Flair interrupts and says they’ve all had a million chances and blown them all. Deville says they will figure out who is next in line after tonight’s title match but if they will excuse us, Flair has a private matter to discuss. The others leave Flair alone with Pearce and Deville. Flair says she should be getting a one-on-one match for the RAW Women’s Title, not a Triple Threat. Pearce understands she’s disappointed about last night, and asks why should she get a singles shot. Flair says she was not pinned last night. Deville understands where she’s coming from and says if she can beat Asuka tonight, she can get her shot. Pearce says that’s fair. Rhea Ripley interrupts and taunts Flair. Ripley came to tell Pearce and Deville she’s ready for some new competition because Flair is nothing but yesterday’s news. Flair fires back and promises to be the new RAW Women’s Champion when they face off. Flair walks off. Ripley says she will be watching Asuka vs. Flair from ringside just in case The Queen falls from her throne. Ripley walks off as Deville and Pearce look at each other a little surprised.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles Match: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler vs. Natalya and Tamina Snuka

We go back to the ring and out come the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions – Natalya and Tamina Snuka, their first appearance since winning the titles on SmackDown. They hit the ring and pose to a pop as we go back to commercial.

Nia with a running body block to Natalya and then she sends Natalya into the corner and hits a running hip.  Shayna tags in and connects with a knee in the corner for a near fall.  Shayna with a wrist lock and she hyper-extends the arm.  Shayna with a double wrist lock but Natalya with an arm drag.  Shayna with a clothesline for a near fall.  Nia tags in and Nia with another body block.  Natalya with forearms and punches.  Natalya sends Nia into the turnbuckles and Natalya with short arm clotheslines followed by a discus clothesline for a near fall.  Tamina tags in and she punches Nia but Nia with a head butt.  Nia with elbows to the back and a slam.  Shayna tags in and Nia goes up top but Tamina stops her and hits a super kick but Shayna is the legal person in the back.

Tamina blocks a kick and Shayna escapes.  Alexa Bliss shows up on the apron and Shayna with the Kirifuda Clutch and then the pyro goes off on the turnbuckles, but Kane does not show up.  Natalya with a Hart Attack for the three count.

Winners:  Tamina and Natalya

After the match, Alexa cackles while Reginald is tended to by Nia.

We go to commercial.

Sheamus vs. Ricochet

We are back and Sheamus has something to say.  He asks if he is out here playing.  He says he knows it was Ricochet who put his filthy hands on his threads.  He demands his property back and he tells Ricochet to come out.

Ricochet is in the back and Sarah asks about the accusations made by Sheamus. We see what happened after the match.

Ricochet says if it looked like he was having fun, he was.  His goal was to go out there and slap Sheamus in his face. Ricochet is asked about the accusations about stealing his stuff.  Ricochet says he threw it back at him last night, but earlier today, he saw it in the locker room and then Ricochet shows that he did take Sheamus’ jacket and hat.

It’s time for the match and Sheamus charges at Ricochet on the ramp but Ricochet with a drop toe hold.  Ricochet with a drop kick and then the bell rings to start the match.

Ricochet with a forearm and a rollup for a near fall.  Ricochet with kicks to Sheamus but Sheamus with a short arm clothesline.  Sheamus with a forearm to the lower back.  Sheamus with more forearms.  Sheamus with a slam.  Ricochet with forearms but Sheamus with a knee.  Ricochet leaps on Sheamus’ back and applies a sleeper but Ricochet throws Ricochet off his back.  Sheamus with an arm bar.  Sheamus adds a chin lock and Ricochet with a jaw breaker but Sheamus maintains control.  Ricochet wtih a face breaker and an enzuigiri that sends Sheamus to the floor.

Ricochet with a pescaod but Sheamus catches Ricochet and sends him into the ring post and then throws Ricochet into the time keeper’s area.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Sheamus tries for a punch but Ricochet blocks it and he connects with forearms.  Sheamus kicks Ricochet and sends him to the apron.  Ricochet with forearms across the chest.  Sheamus with the fish hook.  Ricochet with forearms.  Sheamus with a uranage back breaker for a near fall.  Sheamus goes up top and Ricochet stops him.  Sheamus knocks Ricochet off the turnbuckles and Ricochet leaps up top and hits Spanish Fly for a near fall.  Ricochet kicks SHeamus in the head.  Ricochet with chops and a running forearm into the corner.  RIcochet is sent to the apron and Ricochet with a springboard clothesline.  Ricochet wtih a shooting star press for a near fall.

Ricochet goes for a quebrada and Sheamus gets his knees up and Sheamus with a near fall on a rollup.  Ricochet avoids the Brogue Kick and Sheamus’ leg gets caught on the rope.  Ricochet goes up top and Sheamus goes to the floor.  Ricochet with a forearm off the turnbuckles onto Sheamus on the floor.  Ricochet with a springboard 450 splash for a near fall.  Ricochet with a springboard move but Sheamus with a knee for a near fall.  Sheamus tells Ricochet to lay down and Ricochet slaps Sheamus.

Sheamus with a Brogue Kick for the three count.

Winner:  Sheamus

Sheamus tells Rick O’Shea he isn’t dancing now.  He says it felt great to win that one.  He says his other shoulder is feeling lonely and he may challenge Bobby Lashley tonight.

Backstage:

T-Bar and Mace are in the back and they say that Bobby Lashley’s title reign has an expiration date.  Mace says that tonight Bobby pays his debt.  Mace asks which one of them ends the legacy of Bobby Lashley.  T-Bar says it is at the flip fo the coin. 

— Asuka makes her way to the ring as we go to commercial.

Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair

Back from the break and Asuka wraps up her entrance as the pyro goes off. Out next comes Charlotte Flair as fans boo her. Flair poses on the stage to more pyro. Virk shows us a replay of Asuka and Flair coming up short to RAW Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley. The bell rings and here we go. Asuka with a dropkick early on, then a Hip Attack into the ropes.

Flair blocks an Irish Whip but ends up dropping Asuka. More back and forth now. Flair tries to fight in from the apron but Asuka leg sweeps her. Asuka with another Hip Attack from the apron for a 2 count. Still to come, John Morrison vs. Damian Priest in a Lumberjack Match. Flair counters Asuka and retreats to the floor to regroup. Asuka follows but Flair drops her on the apron. The music interrupts and out comes Ripley. Flair and Ripley stare each other down as Ripley heads down the ramp to ringside. Flair covers Asuka for a 2 count while staring at Ripley. We go to commercial.

Back from the break and Flair has Asuka down in a headlock. Ripley watches from a chair at ringside. Asuka fights back but Flair drops her. Flair uses the ropes to choke Asuka now as fans boo and the referee warns her. Flair decks Asuka into the corner and unloads with the Flair chops. Flair stomps away while Asuka is down now. Flair keeps control but has a scoop slam blocked. Asuka goes to work now, mounting offense. Asuka with a neckbreaker as Ripley laughs from ringside. Asuka covers for 2. They roll around with more pin attempts on the mat. Flair blocks a clothesline and nails a backbreaker, then send Asuka face-first into the rope. Flair follows up with a neckbreaker for a close 2 count.

Flair shows some frustration now. She applies the head scissors and uses that to slam Asuka around the mat. Fans rally for Asuka but Flair keeps the scissors locked in, manhandling Asuka with them. Flair rolls and tosses Asuka with the scissors. Asuka kicks out at 2 as Flair shows more frustration now. Flair kicks Asuka around but Asuka pulls her into a roll-up for 2. Asuka back-slides for another 2 count. Asuka goes for a big kick and connects with part of it but Flair still goes down. More back and forth now. Asuka with a big German suplex, a Hip Attack in the corner and a bulldog in the middle of the ring. Asuka goes on and covers for a close 2 count. Ripley continues to look on from her chair, smiling and laughing. Flair rocks Asuka but runs into a boot now. Asuka charges but Flair levels her with a big boot for 2. Flair goes for Natural Selection but Asuka blocks with the Asuka Lock. Flair blocks that and drops Asuka for another close pin attempt.

Flair can’t believe it as she has a few words with the referee. Flair takes Asuka to the top turnbuckle now. Flair climbs up to the top for a Spanish Fly but Asuka hangs on and Flair lands on the mat by herself. Asuka re-groups on the top and delivers a missile dropkick for a 2 count. Asuka with kicks while Flair is on her knees now. Flair ducks a roundhouse kick and rolls Asuka for a 2 count. Asuka fights Flair off. Flair elbows her. They tangle some more as Asuka applies the knee-bar in the middle of the ring. Flair resists and powers up to their feet. Asuka takes her right back down and applies the Triangle submission. Flair powers back up and turns it into a Boston Crab in the middle of the ring. Asuka counters and rolls Flair for a 2 count. Flair charges but Asuka takes her down for another submission. Flair gets the bottom rope to break it. The broadcast has went black on three separate occasions during this match, for a few seconds each time. They end up on the floor. Flair slams Asuka face-first into the announce table. Flair gets in Ripley’s face now and they have words.

Asuka goes for a back-fist at ringside while Flair and Ripley face off, but Flair blocks it and sends her back in the ring. Flair says a few more words to Ripley then returns to the ring to beat the count. Flair ends up kicking Ripley off the apron after she jumps up. Asuka tries to put her away but she can’t. Flair goes for the Figure Four but Asuka counters and rolls her up for the pin to win.

Winner: Asuka

After the match, the music hits as Asuka rolls to the floor to recover. Ripley is up at ringside now, laughing at Flair, who is furious in the ring. We go to replays. Ripley raises the RAW Women’s Title at ringside, taunting Flair. Asuka is all smiles on the other side of the ring.

Backstage:

John Morrison walks in the back and he does not look Zombified.  Kevin Patrick tries to ask Morrison about what happened last night.  Morrison says it feels like someone is picking at his brain.  Morrison talks about the lumberjacks.  Miz might never be the same.  Morrison says that is why he is dedicating it to Miz’ memory.  Miz, wherever you are, I hope you are in a better place. I love you bro.

— Damian Priest makes his way to the ring as we go to commercial.

Damian Priest vs. John Morrison in a Lumberjack Match

The are no zombies atound the ring this time, as Priest teases a kick and Morrison backs away to start the match.  Morrison with a side head lock.  Morrison with a shoudler tackle but Priest bounces off the ropes and connects with a forearm.  Priest with an arm drag into an arm bar.  Morrison with a forearm and punches.  Morrison with an elbow.  Priest is sent to the heel side of the lumberjacks and they go after Priest on the floor.  Morrison with punches and kicks.  Morrison runs into a boot from Priest in the corner.  Priest with kicks to the chest and back.  Morrison tries to pull the ropes down for Priest to charge but Priest does not move.  Morrison goes to the floor and Nikki Cross sends him back in.  Priest kicks Morrison in the corner.

Priest with a punch and Irish whip.  Priest misses a splash and Morrison with a kick from the apron.  Priest blocks a kick and Morrison sends Tozawa into the ring.  Morrison runs away and he flips over people like he is Reginald.  Morrison kicks Mansoor and then Priest with a sit out choke slam.  

We go to commercial.

We are back and Morrison kicks Priest and Morriwon with forearms in the general direction of Priest.  Priest gets a near fall.  Priest with a triangle but Morrison gets Priest’s shoulders on the mat for a near fall.  Morrison with a springboard kick that sends Priest to the floor.  Morrison with a knee when Priest is sent back into the ring and Morrison gets a near fall.  Morrison with a reverse chin lock and a knee.  Priest with a back elbow and forearm followed by punches.  Priest with a face plant.  Priest with a back breaker into a power slam for a near fall.
