WWE released the following statement, denying the reports that Friday’s Smackdown in Detroit has been canceled and instead moved to the Performance Center in Orlando:
“WWE has not cancelled Friday Night SmackDown in Detroit, however, based on the current situation, we are putting contingency plans in place in the event that upcoming WWE shows are cancelled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues.”
Despite the statement, multiple sources – including FOX 2 in Detroit – are suggesting that the event is indeed canceled (in Detroit) and moved to Orlando and that it was at the sole discretion of the city.
