Royce Keys Comments on Carmelo Hayes Joining The 946 Faction

The landscape of WWE RAW shifted dramatically during the closing moments of the October 12 broadcast in Bossier City, Louisiana, when Carmelo Hayes aligned himself with the destructive new faction, The 946.

Hayes made a surprise return by attacking Solo Sikoa during a six-man tag team match between The 946 and The Bloodline, throwing the main event into chaos and cementing his status as the group’s fifth member alongside leader Royce Keys, Bronco Nima, Lucien Price, and Jaida Parker.

A Longstanding Friendship & Unlocking The “Pit Bull” Mentality

Speaking with Rick Ucchino of The Takedown on Sports Illustrated, Royce Keys opened up about his pre-WWE history with Hayes and explained why adding the high-flying star was a natural progression for the faction:

  • On their pre-WWE bond: “Melo’s always been my boy. Before this even came up, before WWE. I know how he is. He’s just like a pit bull. He’s got a little Tyson in him that some people haven’t seen.”
  • On adding Hayes to the mix: “The world got a taste of it [Monday] night, so it’s just one of those things that, you know, it’s like a pot of gumbo. You got all your ingredients and you’re seasoning it, and once it’s together, you know, it’s just a chef’s kiss.”
  • On unleashing a new side of Hayes: “It’s gonna give him a different side. It’s given me a different side. It’s given Bronco, Lucien and Jaida, you know, everyone’s gonna see a different side of all of us.”

Main Stream Validation & “Ain’t Nobody Safe” Warning

Keys also reflected on the prominent creative spotlight WWE management has thrust onto The 946 since their arrival, taking on high-stakes main event segments against top-tier stables like The Bloodline:

  • On earning WWE’s trust: “Just being featured on some of the heavy segments, you know, the trust and value, week after week, it means a lot. It definitely lets me know I’m doing the right thing. Everyone in The 946 — Jaida, Lucien, Bronco, Melo now — we’re all doing the right things. We’re all on the same page and everyone in this group is handpicked.”
  • On the core message of the numbers: “Those three numbers mean something. And something we say every single week: 946 means ain’t nobody safe.”

With Hayes officially integrated into the lineup, The 946 continues to establish itself as an unpredictable force on the red brand.
