The conclusion of the September 28 edition of WWE RAW saw 946 and The Bloodline escalate their feud into a backstage brawl. In the closing moments of the broadcast, Jaida Parker officially aligned herself with 946 by striking Jacob Fatu with a car, leaving “The Samoan Werewolf” laying in the parking lot as the show went off the air. Fatu has been absent from WWE television since the angle.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided clarification regarding Fatu’s current absence, confirming that his on-screen hiatus coincides with filming for an upcoming WWE external project alongside Drew McIntyre and TNA’s Joe Hendry. Earlier this summer, WWE announced an official partnership with the microdrama platform ReelShort to produce original live-action video series featuring WWE talent.
Meltzer clarified that while the filming schedule overlapped with Fatu’s television absence, the vehicular assault angle was written as an intentional storyline beat rather than a last-minute cover story to write him off programming.
“The reason he [Fatu]’s out is storyline related, in the sense it wasn’t a cover for being out, but the storyline was to run him over as a part of the storyline regardless,” Meltzer explained.
While WWE has not announced an official timeline for Fatu’s return to television, creative plans are expected to lead toward a major multi-man WarGames match between The Bloodline and 946 at Survivor Series.
