Rising WWE star Je’Von Evans recently reflected on his memorable interaction with Brock Lesnar during the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble match in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, revealing the critical piece of advice that saved him from a rough landing.
Appearing on Rosenberg Wrestling, Evans discussed the mix of confidence and nervousness he felt stepping into the ring with “The Beast,” particularly regarding taking Lesnar’s finishing maneuver, the F5.
Eavesdropping On Suplex Advice
While Evans felt ready to handle the F5 after growing up watching Lesnar execute the move on television, he admitted to being cautious about Lesnar’s relentless suplexes.
Before heading out to the ring, Evans overheard a vital piece of advice being passed around backstage:
- “I was confident, but at the same time I was nervous too because I just never took the F5 before,” Evans said. “But I was like, ‘Yo, seen him do this move so many times growing up, like I got it,’ you know.”
- “But then, right, funny story. So, like, he comes in the ring, and he starts suplexing everybody. Bow, bow, right?” Evans continued. “And in my head, I remember somebody was talking about it before the show. They was like, ‘Hey, you know, if Brock comes in the ring, he gives you a suplex, he’s going to toss you. Do not jump.’”
Although Evans was not an active participant in that backstage conversation, he took mental notes while eavesdropping:
- “Look, I was just eavesdropping,” Evans said. “I was like, ‘Okay, all right, cool. Just in case, whatever.’”
Putting The Advice To Use
The overheard tip proved invaluable when Lesnar eventually grabbed Evans during the Rumble match. Rather than trying to assist the throw by jumping, Evans allowed Lesnar’s raw power to dictate the trajectory, resulting in a clean throw and preventing what could have been a much harder impact.
Looking back on the moment, Evans joked that attempting to jump into a suplex from Lesnar likely would have made the landing significantly worse.
