Former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley has officially inked a new contract with WWE, putting an end to months of rampant internet speculation regarding her potential free agency and rumored interest from rival promotions.
The 37-year-old veteran made her return to television on the September 7 edition of WWE RAW live from the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. Her sudden appearance directly decided the outcome of the Triple Threat Women’s Money in the Bank qualifying match between Sol Ruca, Lyra Valkyria, and Maxxine Dupri.
Shocking Interference & Contract Confirmation
Just as Valkyria appeared to have the qualifier wrapped up after executing Nightwing, Bayley emerged at ringside and yanked the referee out of the ring to break up the count. The distraction allowed Ruca to capitalize with the Sol Snatcher to secure her spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match, after which Bayley launched a furious post-match assault on Valkyria to reignite their personal feud.
The appearance was her first on WWE programming since the July 18 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, where she lost to Valkyria and was written off television following a post-match beatdown.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Bayley’s return comes backed by a fresh multi-year commitment to the company:
- “Yep, signed a new deal,” Meltzer confirmed.
Meltzer also noted the immediate impact her arrival had on the arena crowd in Birmingham:
- “This match had no heat until very late in the match. When Bayley showed up, they went crazy because it was something big and new and all that.”
While exact financial terms and the specific length of her new agreement remain undisclosed, her return locks down one of WWE’s premier division anchors for the foreseeable future.
