After spending three years on the main roster, Waller made a surprise return to WWE NXT in late July. While his shift back to Tuesdays was initially met with skepticism by some fans, his crowning moment at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas, proved to be the focal point of his brand transfer.

According to a report from WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select, WWE officials finalized Waller’s championship victory shortly after cementing his move to NXT from RAW.

WWE higher-ups reportedly felt Waller’s character on the main roster had begun to grow stagnant. Recognizing his proven history as an elite antagonist during his original NXT run prior to 2023, WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels personally requested Waller’s return to anchor the brand as its top heel.

Waller secured the title in a Fatal 4-Way match against Tony D’Angelo, Zilla Fatu, and Cruz Montana. With seeds already planted for potential future crossover angles down the road—including past confrontations with CM Punk—WWE is positioning Waller as a central figure for the CW era.
