Coming up on the August 31, 2026 episode of Monday Night RAW, Rey Fenix and Penta will square off in the finals of the Number One Contender’s Tournament to determine who will challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the upcoming WWE broadcast in Mexico City.
The tournament final sets up an emotional showdown between the Lucha Brothers, with AAA World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix facing his real-life brother Penta on WWE television.
“A Dream Come True”: Rey Fenix Reflects on the Journey
Appearing on Busted Open Radio to discuss the upcoming high-stakes match, Fenix shared that competing against his brother in WWE was a shared childhood dream they talked about over two decades ago.
“I am so proud about him, and all his hard work he does… The opportunity is once in a lifetime. We understand, so like, my brother understand the positon we are now. I totally understand… If my brother win the match, I will feel proud about my job. I know I think every time I step in the ring, I always try to do my best, and of course this is another match I have to put the double energy, my soul, my body, because this is not only a match. This is a dream. This is a dream come true by two brothers that years ago, almost 22 years ago, we took together and we know we have that dream and we used to play wrestling in my parents’ beds. We break doors, we break glasses, we break mirrors. One day, got a time to thinking about, ‘Hey, what about if we can wrestle at WWE? Can you imagine a one-on-one or dream matches we talk about?’ It’s here. On Monday Night RAW next week, and of course if my brother won the match, I will be happy for him and I’ll be happy for me because I know I did my best. Every time I step in the ring, I always do my best because I love my job. I love what I do. This is big feel for me and for my brother, so, that’s why I know it’s gonna be great match. I always say that I am the best opponent of my brother and my brother is my best opponent.”
Busy Weekend Ahead at AAA Ola de Calor
Prior to their tournament final on RAW, the brothers will first unite in six-man tag team action. Penta, Fenix, and Dragon Lee are scheduled to team up at AAA Ola de Calor on Sunday to take on the faction Perros del Mal, consisting of Daga, Angel, and Berto.
Following that event, attention turns directly to the August 31 broadcast of WWE RAW, where one brother will punch their ticket to challenge Roman Reigns in Mexico City.
