Matt Cardona is facing a stretch on the sidelines after revealing that he suffered a torn triceps. The injury took place on August 21 during a match taped for WWE Main Event at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
Cardona took to social media on August 23 to confirm the injury, sharing a photo displaying noticeable swelling in his arm.
“I wish my arm was this jacked,” Cardona wrote. “Unfortunately, it’s just swollen because I tore my tricep in a match on Friday night.”
Optimistic Attitude Despite Sidelining Injury
Despite facing a potentially long recovery process, Cardona remains determined to stay active where possible, addressing fans directly regarding his status:
“I still went to the gym today and did legs. I’ll keep you updated. I’M NOT FINISHED.”
The setback comes during an active period on WWE programming for Cardona. On the August 14 episode of SmackDown, he stepped in following a backstage segment involving Gunther, Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green, and General Manager Nick Aldis, resulting in an impromptu match against Gunther.
Double Injury Blow for Household
The injury adds to a difficult string of physical setbacks for Cardona and his wife, Chelsea Green. Green is currently recovering from a broken orbital bone suffered during a recent episode of SmackDown, leaving both competitors working through rehabilitation periods.
WWE has not yet confirmed the exact timeline for Cardona’s return to in-ring competition as he awaits further medical evaluations.
