Matt Cardona has addressed his ongoing losing streak on WWE SmackDown, making it clear he has no plans to give up despite a difficult start since returning to the company full time.
Cardona reacted publicly on social media after suffering another loss during the May 8 episode of SmackDown, where he was defeated by Ricky Saints.
The defeat marked Cardona’s ninth consecutive loss on SmackDown television since returning to WWE earlier this year.
Following the match, Cardona posted a defiant message on Twitter reflecting on his journey back to WWE after spending nearly six years away from the company.
“It took me almost 6 years to get back to WWE. You think losing some matches is going to stop me? LOL. It’s not over until I quit, and that’s never going to happen. I’M NOT FINISHED,” Cardona wrote.
Matt Cardona WWE Return Has Been Difficult So Far
Cardona initially returned to WWE in November 2025 for a one-off appearance connected to the tournament designed to determine John Cena’s final opponent.
He later officially joined the SmackDown roster on the January 2 episode, defeating Kit Wilson in his first singles match back with the company.
However, momentum quickly shifted after that victory.
Since then, Cardona has lost nine straight matches on SmackDown, with the loss to Ricky Saints becoming the latest setback in his WWE comeback story.
His only victory during that stretch came on the March 19 episode of WWE Main Event, where he teamed with Apollo Crews to defeat Nathan Frazer and Axiom.
Before returning to WWE, Cardona rebuilt his career on the independent wrestling scene following his original WWE departure in 2020.
During that period, he became one of the most successful and recognizable independent wrestlers in the industry, capturing championships across multiple promotions and developing a major fanbase outside WWE.
Cardona’s return generated significant interest because of how dramatically his profile had changed during his time away from the company.
He and Chelsea Green are both currently members of the SmackDown roster.
Despite the recent losing streak, Cardona’s latest comments suggest he remains determined to eventually establish himself again within WWE.
