Queen Aminata has heaped high praise on AEW Women’s World Champion Mercedes Moné, declaring that their high-stakes title clash in Paris pushed her to a new level and fueled her desire for a future rematch against “The CEO.”
Aminata challenged Moné for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Grand Slam: France earlier this month in Paris. While she came up short against the champion, the 33-year-old standout believes the bout served as a career-defining turning point and insists that fans frequently underappreciate Moné’s elite capabilities inside the ring.
“I Want To Be As Good As This Woman Is”
Speaking in an interview with CMLL Informa, Aminata reflected on her growth following the Parisian showdown and expressed deep respect for Moné’s level of execution.
“Growing up watching wrestling, I didn’t really have a role model, so I just wanted to make myself my own role model. Now that I’ve faced her in Paris, after that match, something stuck in my head. I want to be as good as this woman is. She is amazing. I don’t think people give her enough credit. I feel like I’m a different wrestler because of that match. It was in France, and I grew up in France. Of course, it’s the one and only Mercedes Mone. I want to do it again. I really want to wrestle her again. She’s amazing!” Aminata said.
TBS Championship Opportunity On Fright Night Dynamite
While a future clash with Moné remains high on her target list, Aminata’s immediate focus shifts toward gold tonight.
After defeating Maya World in a Number One Contender’s match, Aminata is set to challenge reigning champion Persephone for the TBS Championship on tonight’s special “Fright Night” edition of AEW Dynamite.
