Fans hoping to see “Timeless” Toni Storm back in action following recent storyline teases will have to wait, as internal reports indicate her physical AEW return remains far off.
While mysterious cassette tapes distributed at AEW WrestleDream briefly reignited discussion surrounding the former AEW Women’s World Champion, sources within the company confirm that her in-ring comeback is not considered imminent.
Storyline Teases vs. In-Ring Timeline
The confusion stems from recent promotional efforts where physical audio tapes were seeded to select media members, fueling speculation that her return was right around the corner. However, according to Fightful Select, AEW officials have known for months that Storm would be unavailable for physical competition through the remainder of the year.
- Extended Absence: Storm has been completely absent from AEW television since her match against Marina Shafir at AEW Revolution in March.
- Controlled Narrative: Rather than rushing her back to television, AEW is using pre-taped audio releases and subtle narrative clues to keep her character active in fans’ minds without requiring her physical presence at shows.
- Flexible Creative Direction: While an off-screen mystery attack was used to write her off, bookers have kept the identity of her potential attacker open to adjust to roster developments when she is eventually cleared.
For now, AEW intends to continue dropping occasional storyline breadcrumbs, but any actual in-ring return for Storm remains a long-term prospect rather than an immediate plan.
