Speculation surrounding WrestleMania potentially taking place in London in 2028 has received a major clarification following comments from the office of London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
According to POST Wrestling, Tom Degun from the Economic Desk within the Mayor of London’s Press Office confirmed that while WWE and London officials remain in communication, there are currently no active negotiations specifically focused on bringing WrestleMania 2028 to the city.
“There are general discussions with WWE, but at present no specific discussions around bringing the 2028 WrestleMania to London,” Degun stated in an email to POST Wrestling.
Degun also reportedly noted that Mayor Khan remains committed to attracting more major sporting events to London, including WWE’s largest shows, and that discussions regarding future opportunities are continuing even though a WrestleMania 2028 bid is not presently being pursued.
Nashville Reportedly Furthest Along In WrestleMania Talks
The update contrasts with the current situation involving Nashville, which reportedly appears to be the leading candidate actively working with WWE regarding WrestleMania 44.
POST Wrestling previously reported that the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. confirmed it is working with WWE on securing a future WrestleMania event after being asked directly about 2028 plans.
Interest in London hosting WrestleMania significantly increased after John Cena publicly called for the event to take place there during Money in the Bank 2023.
Further speculation developed after WWE President Nick Khan reportedly teased WrestleMania 2028 during a company-wide TKO meeting by telling employees to wait until they heard the official announcement regarding the location.
The comments led many to believe WWE could be planning another major international destination following the confirmation that WrestleMania 43 will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2027 — the first WrestleMania ever staged outside the United States or Canada.
London had appeared to be a realistic possibility after Sadiq Khan reportedly met with Nick Khan and Triple H in 2024 to openly discuss the idea of bringing WrestleMania to the city.
Meanwhile, Ireland has also emerged as a possible long-term candidate after Kilkenny councillor Maurice Shortall suggested the Irish government explore submitting a bid for the event. However, reports have indicated that proposal remains in very early stages due to financial and logistical concerns.
For now, despite continued interest from London officials and WWE fans, there does not appear to be an active WrestleMania 2028 negotiation involving the city.
