Ireland Interested In Hosting Future WrestleMania

Ireland could eventually become the home of a future WrestleMania following growing international interest in hosting WWE’s biggest annual show.

The discussion comes after WWE confirmed that WrestleMania will go international for the first time next year when the event heads to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for a two-night spectacle.

With WWE now expanding WrestleMania beyond the United States, officials in other countries are beginning to publicly push for future bids.

Ireland WrestleMania bid interest grows

According to the Irish Mirror, Kilkenny Councillor Maurice Shortall believes Ireland would be capable of presenting a serious proposal to host WrestleMania in the future.

Shortall pointed to Ireland’s tourism industry, international reputation, and previous experience hosting major events as reasons the country could become a strong candidate.

“As a globally recognised event with the capacity to attract tens of thousands of international visitors and generate substantial international media exposure, WrestleMania presents a significant opportunity for Ireland to strengthen its position as a leading destination for major event tourism,” Shortall stated.

He also highlighted the potential economic impact WrestleMania could create beyond a single host city.

“The wider regional benefit to counties such as Kilkenny would be substantial, with strong potential for tourism spillover, increased domestic travel, and enhanced international visibility for Ireland’s secondary tourism destinations.”

Shortall added that Ireland already possesses many of the qualities WWE would likely look for when evaluating future WrestleMania locations.

“Ireland is well placed to present a credible and competitive bid for WrestleMania, given our strong international tourism brand, proven track record in hosting major events, and global reputation as a welcoming destination.”

The possibility of international WrestleMania locations has become one of the wrestling industry’s biggest recent talking points after WWE’s announcement regarding Saudi Arabia.

Several cities and countries are reportedly interested in hosting future editions of the event as WWE continues to expand globally under TKO Group Holdings.

In addition to Ireland, Nashville has also reportedly expressed interest in landing a future WrestleMania as competition for WWE’s biggest event weekend continues to increase.

For now, there is no official bid from Ireland in place, but public comments from government officials show that interest is already beginning to build.
