Santos Escobar is counting down the final days of his WWE non‑compete clause and hinting that a major decision about his future is coming soon. The former WWE star posted a short message on social media marking the last stretch of his waiting period, signaling that he is ready to see what comes next. “At the end of these 10 days, let’s see what destiny has for us,” Escobar wrote.
Escobar was released on April 24 as part of WWE’s post‑WrestleMania roster cuts, a group that included Kairi Sane, Aleister Black and the Motor City Machine Guns. Like the others let go at that time, he has been serving a 90‑day non‑compete clause that expires later this month, clearing him to sign with another promotion once it lapses.
Santos Escobar prepares for free‑agent decision
Escobar never wrestled on WWE main‑roster television after re‑signing with the company in October 2025. He spent most of his time working in AAA and underwent surgery for a torn triceps earlier this year. WWE released him while he was still recovering from the injury.
As for where he may land next, Fightful Select reported that conversations between Escobar and CMLL are expected to resume now that he is nearing the end of his WWE deal. CMLL had been the expected destination before Escobar chose to re‑sign with WWE in 2025, and that path could have also opened the door for AEW appearances.
For now, Escobar is keeping quiet about his next move. His message simply confirms that the wait is almost over and that he is ready to see what opportunities await him once he officially becomes a free agent.
