Braun Strowman made his in‑ring return at Great Lakes Championship Wrestling’s Blizzard Brawl. The former WWE Universal Champion teamed with Kal Herro to defeat Tony Evans, Drew Hernandez and Tommy Boy in a handicap match. The appearance marks Strowman’s first match since his WWE contract expired in July 2025, and his first time wrestling since April 18, 2025, when he teamed with LA Knight on SmackDown to beat Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa.
Strowman’s WWE deal was not renewed, with the company informing him in May 2025 that his contract would lapse at the end of July. Since leaving WWE, he has focused on his USA Network food and travel series Everything on the Menu, which airs after SmackDown and has already been renewed for a second season. He also spent part of the past year dealing with health issues, including a knee infection that required hospitalization.
Braun Strowman steps back into the ring
For months, Strowman had been vague about whether he would ever wrestle again. In May, he responded to a fan asking about a comeback with a joking message: “For everyone asking when I’m getting back in the ring. When a dump truck of gold blocks get dumped on my porch!!!!” Despite that playful answer, Blizzard Brawl marked his official return to competition.
This wasn’t Strowman’s first time working with Great Lakes Championship Wrestling. He wrestled several GLCW shows between his WWE runs in 2021 and 2022, and he appeared as a guest referee at Blizzard Brawl in December 2024. His handicap match this weekend was his first independent bout since 2022.
With Strowman now back in the ring, questions naturally turn to what comes next. Whether this is a one‑off appearance or the start of a full‑time return remains to be seen, but Blizzard Brawl confirmed one thing: Strowman is healthy enough to compete again, and he’s willing to step back into the spotlight.
