Vikingo Injury Forces AAA To Vacate Latin American Championship

AAA Latin American Championship Vacated After Vikingo Injury

The AAA Latin American Championship has been vacated following an injury to El Hijo del Vikingo, creating uncertainty around the title’s future. The situation was officially addressed during the July 11 edition of AAA on Fox.

Vikingo was originally scheduled to compete on NXT a couple of weeks ago against EK Prosper. However, the match was changed at the last minute, with Prosper instead facing Keanu Carver. Shortly after, reports surfaced that Vikingo had suffered a knee injury that would require surgery.

New Champion Decision Put On Hold

During the AAA broadcast, Dorian Roldan confirmed Vikingo’s injury and announced that the Latin American Championship had been vacated. He then attempted to crown Omos as the new champion.

That decision was quickly interrupted.

AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio appeared and stopped the crowning, ruling that Omos could not be awarded the title in that manner. As a result, the championship remains vacant.

Later, during a media scrum, Mysterio clarified that a new champion will be determined next week. While no official match or participants have been confirmed, interest in the title is already building.

Among those who have stepped forward is WWE’s Damian Priest, who expressed his intention to pursue the championship.

With Vikingo sidelined and the title now vacant, the situation surrounding the AAA Latin American Championship is set to develop further in the coming days.
