Following the July 6 episode of WWE RAW, Dupri addressed her sudden heel turn, alliance with The Vision, and viral moment with Austin Theory. The former Alpha Academy member opened up about why she believes this bold move was the right step in her career.

Speaking on Complex Graps, Dupri reflected on the events that led to her turning on her former allies. During WWE RAW, she played a crucial role in Bron Breakker and Austin Theory defeating The Street Profits to capture the WWE World Tag Team Championship. Dupri delivered a low blow to Angelo Dawkins before celebrating with Theory in a moment that quickly spread across social media.
According to Dupri, her experiences over the past year made her rethink her position in WWE.
“So much has changed… I won my first title. I lost my first title, I lost a lot of opportunities. I wasn’t being given opportunities; I was continuing to be overlooked, but not by Austin, of course.”
She added that her decision ultimately came down to putting herself first.
“I just came to a point where… you have to choose yourself, and I chose me.”
Dupri also explained why aligning with Austin Theory and The Vision made sense for her moving forward.
“I wanna be with the best of the best,” she said before adding, “You are the average of the five people you surround yourself with, and so I’m gonna surround myself with the best.”
Addressing her split from Alpha Academy, Dupri questioned the group’s support during key moments in her career, including her battles with Becky Lynch.
“I’ve been choosing them for years, and that hasn’t gotten me anywhere,” she said. “Where were they? Were they ever ringside for me?”
She also responded to criticism from fans following her actions on WWE RAW.
“Gloves are off, baby. They asked for this.”
For now, Maxxine Dupri is fully embracing this new chapter alongside The Vision. Regardless of fan reaction, she has made her intentions clear—she is done waiting for opportunities and ready to take control of her future.
