Willow Nightingale has secured her opportunity at the AEW Women’s World Championship following her return on the Beach Break edition of Dynamite.
Nightingale made her comeback in the Casino Gauntlet match, entering at number eight and making an immediate impact. She picked up the victory by delivering the Babe with the Power Bomb to Julia Hart, earning herself a future title shot in the process.

With the win, Nightingale is now set to challenge reigning champion Thekla at AEW’s upcoming Redemption pay-per-view in Montreal, Canada. The match will mark their second singles meeting, with their previous encounter taking place in July 2025 when Thekla came out on top.
Following the gauntlet match, tensions escalated quickly. Thekla, who had been on commentary, attacked Nightingale in the ring and appeared ready to strike her with the championship belt. Before she could follow through, Mercedes Mone ran in and took out both women, shifting the spotlight heading into the next major events.
Mone’s involvement adds another layer to the title picture, as she is already guaranteed a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In after winning this year’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament. She was not alone either, as Divine Dominion joined her on the ramp and laid out Thekla’s Sisters of Sin, further intensifying the situation.
Nightingale’s return victory is especially significant given her recent absence. She had been out of action since May 16 after suffering a shoulder injury during a TBS Championship defense against Red Velvet. The injury forced her to relinquish the title and withdraw from the Owen Hart Foundation tournament.
In the weeks leading up to her return, AEW aired multiple vignettes highlighting her recovery and training, building anticipation for her comeback. That momentum paid off immediately, as she stepped back into the ring and secured a major opportunity in her first match back.
The Casino Gauntlet featured a mix of talent from AEW and beyond, including Athena, Maya World, Skye Blue, Mina Shirakawa, Rina, Julia Hart, Thunder Rosa, and Nightingale, with the returning star ultimately outlasting the field.
With Nightingale now set to challenge Thekla and Mone looming as the next contender, the AEW Women’s World Championship picture is quickly becoming one of the most layered storylines in the company heading into Redemption and All In.
