Instead, WWE incorporated the situation into a storyline angle, showing Keanu Carver standing over Vikingo backstage before Robert Stone called for medical assistance. At the time, Vikingo’s left knee was visibly swollen, and he was wearing a brace while awaiting further medical evaluation.
The setback comes at a difficult time in his career. Vikingo had been gaining increased exposure through WWE’s working relationship with AAA, and the planned title defense on WWE NXT would have introduced him to a wider audience in the United States.
