Road Dogg Reportedly Expected at TNA Slammiversary Amid Creative Role Speculation

TNA Wrestling is reportedly preparing for the possible addition of Road Dogg in a backstage capacity, with new reports indicating he is expected to be present at TNA Slammiversary 2026 this Sunday in Boston.

Recent updates have linked Road Dogg, the former co-lead writer of WWE SmackDown, to ongoing internal discussions within TNA regarding a potential creative role. His name surfaced as a possible replacement for Tommy Dreamer, who exited the company last week after serving as a key figure in its creative structure.

According to PWInsider, Road Dogg is expected to be at Slammiversary, with initial plans reportedly involving a producer role. However, sources suggest his responsibilities could evolve depending on final decisions made following Dreamer’s departure. Additional reporting from Fightful indicates that Road Dogg has been in discussions with TNA creative for several weeks.

One noted factor in his potential hiring is his existing relationship with Johnny Russo, which some within the industry believe could strengthen coordination between WWE’s developmental ecosystem and TNA programming.

Further reports also suggest that Eric Tompkins and Hunter Johnston (also known as “Delirious”) are expected to work closely together moving forward, potentially serving as co-heads of creative. However, this arrangement has not yet been formally confirmed.

Road Dogg departed WWE in March 2026 after serving as co-lead writer on SmackDown, later stating that he felt the company had moved in a direction where his role was no longer required.

With Slammiversary set for the same day as major events including AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door and WWE NXT Great American Bash, all eyes will be on TNA not only for in-ring action but also for potential behind-the-scenes developments.
