TNA Creative Shakeup Continues As Road Dogg Emerges As Leading Candidate To Replace Tommy Dreamer

TNA Wrestling is going through a major internal shift, with multiple departures and creative changes reshaping the company ahead of its next major event.

The situation began in late March when Dani Luna requested her release. That move triggered a chain reaction, leading to several exits across the roster and backstage. Among the most notable departures was Tommy Dreamer stepping down from his role as head of creative.

Now, attention has turned to who could replace him, and a familiar name has surfaced.

Road Dogg Linked To TNA Creative Role

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Road Dogg is currently the leading candidate to take over Dreamer’s former position. Discussions between James and TNA reportedly began before the recent wave of departures, though it was not initially clear that the talks involved a potential creative leadership role.

James, also known as Brian James, brings extensive experience from his time in WWE, where he most recently worked as a co-lead writer for WWE SmackDown. He left WWE earlier this year, citing a fast-paced environment and a desire to spend more time with his family.

Meltzer noted that sources within WWE spoke positively about James, highlighting his focus on fundamentals and his strong working relationship with talent.

Despite these developments, Hunter Johnston remains involved in TNA’s creative structure. He is believed to be serving as head booker alongside Vice President of TV Production Eric Tompkins. There had also been speculation that Sami Callihan could take on a larger creative role, but he was released as part of the latest roster cuts.

The list of recent departures continues to grow, including Tessa Blanchard, Steve Maclin, and Myla Grace. At the same time, TNA is moving forward with a new working relationship with Ohio Valley Wrestling.

All of these changes come just days before Slammiversary, adding further uncertainty to the company’s direction. The potential addition of Road Dogg to the creative team could mark a significant turning point as TNA looks to stabilize its leadership and redefine its creative vision.
