Santos Escobar is facing another setback in his recovery after revealing he will need a second surgery following complications from his recent tricep procedure.
Escobar shared the update on social media, explaining that an issue involving his ulnar nerve developed after the initial surgery in March. The ulnar nerve plays a key role in arm and finger movement, and the complication now requires a follow-up operation to correct it.
“Hey familia, this is the Emperor of Lucha Libre Santos Escobar with a quick update on WrestleMania week. As you probably already know I went through tricep surgery. There was a minor hiccup on the road with my ulnar nerve, a nerve that runs through my arms so I’m gonna have to go and do surgery again to repair that situation. Kills me not to be there with you this week, but to all of my WWE family, Happy WrestleMania Week!”
The additional procedure is expected to extend Escobar’s time away from the ring. He had already indicated that his original tricep injury would keep him sidelined for several months, and this latest development adds further uncertainty to his return timeline.
Escobar last competed on March 14 at the AAA Rey de Reyes event. He took part in a four-way match alongside Ludwig Kaiser (as El Grande Americano), Chad Gable (the original El Grande Americano), and La Parka. Reports following that match indicated he had suffered a torn tricep, which led to the initial surgery.
The timing of the setback also means Escobar will miss WrestleMania 42 week, something he addressed directly in his message. His absence comes at a time when several ongoing storylines involving lucha talent continue to develop across WWE programming.
With a second surgery now required, Escobar’s recovery process resets to some degree, and there is currently no confirmed timeline for his return to action.
