Hangman Page Vs MJF Set for Forbidden Door, Updated Lineup – Hangman Page’s second AEW World Championship defense is set for this month’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where he will face a familiar rival in former champion MJF.
On the August 13 episode of Dynamite, Page and MJF came face-to-face in the ring. MJF, who holds an anytime, anywhere World title shot earned by winning the Casino Gauntlet match at All In: Texas, has been trying for weeks to provoke Page. However, Page has refused to take the bait. The confrontation escalated when Page called MJF a coward and challenged him to use his title shot at Forbidden Door. MJF, visibly rattled, accepted the challenge — only to regret the decision moments later.
This will mark Page’s second title defense since retaining against Jon Moxley on the July 30 Dynamite. For MJF, it will be his first World title opportunity since losing the championship to Samoa Joe at Worlds End in December 2023. Their history includes two previous singles matches: MJF’s victory in the 2019 Dynamite Diamond Ring finals, and Page’s win at Revolution this past March.
The show will also feature the reunion of Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. During Dynamite, Stokely Hathaway blinded Copeland with powder before FTR attacked him. Christian ran in for the save, but was confronted by Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian. Copeland and Cage fought them off, shared a tense stare, and embraced — setting up a tag match against Wayne and Sabian at Forbidden Door.
