Update on Naomi After Being Pulled From RAW – As noted, Naomi was pulled from her scheduled title defense against IYO SKY on Monday’s episode of RAW after being ruled “not medically cleared” to compete.
According to one PWInsider, Naomi was physically backstage at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City prior to the show, confirming the change was not due to travel issues. The exact nature of her condition was reportedly kept under strict confidentiality, with many in the locker room unaware of the specifics. It is unclear whether she remained backstage once the broadcast went live on Netflix.
The change was made public just hours before the event. Later during the show, commentators Michael Cole and Corey Graves suggested that Naomi could be out of action for “weeks,” putting her planned Women’s World Championship defense against Stephanie Vaquer at WWE Clash in Paris on August 31 in doubt.
Naomi’s reign began when she successfully cashed in her Money in the Bank contract at the WWE Evolution premium live event in July. Since then, she has been featured prominently as one of Raw’s top female stars. Monday’s match with SKY would have been her first televised singles defense since defeating SKY and Rhea Ripley in a triple threat match at SummerSlam on August 3.
Her current status leaves the future of the championship picture uncertain heading into WWE’s next international stadium event.
