Tommy Dreamer Praises IYO SKY Says WWE Women’s Title Feud Should Main Event SummerSlam – On a recent episode of Busted Open After Dark, Tommy Dreamer had high praise for the current direction of the WWE women’s division, particularly the storyline surrounding the Women’s World Championship. Dreamer believes the newly announced triple threat title match between Naomi, Rhea Ripley, and IYO SKY should be a main event at SummerSlam and put special emphasis on the in-ring and character work of all three women.
Dreamer singled out IYO SKY for her unique wrestling style, comparing her to some of the most innovative performers in wrestling history. “I’m starting to look at her in a whole new light,” Dreamer said. “When I say different, a lot of people know what I’m referring to—just like a different type of person, like a Rob Van Dam, a Sabu, a Will Ospreay, an AJ Styles, a Shawn Michaels. I put people in different categories just because of how they move and how they work.”
Dreamer also praised the Evolution 2 main event, calling the showdown between SKY and Rhea Ripley “freaking amazing.” The bout was interrupted by Naomi, who cashed in her Money in the Bank contract to win the Women’s World Championship.
Following her title win, Naomi delivered a heel promo on RAW that turned heads—and Dreamer took notice. “Her promo was brilliant,” he said. “When everyone’s chanting ‘You deserve it,’ she basically gave you a middle finger without showing you the middle finger. She was like, ‘Where were you? You weren’t feeling the glow.’ And I loved it.”
He went on to applaud Naomi’s recent character work and growth on the mic. “This whole new character that she has—her laugh, her delivery, everything she’s doing—she’s showing even more confidence on the microphone every time you hand it to her. She’s phenomenal.”
Dreamer’s comments come as WWE officially announced that Naomi will defend her newly won title against both Ripley and SKY at SummerSlam. The match is now set for the two-night premium live event taking place August 2 and 3 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dreamer’s endorsement of the women’s feud as a potential main event underlines how far the division has come—and how compelling its top stars have become. Whether or not the triple threat headlines a night of SummerSlam, it’s clear the momentum is with the women of WWE.
