Lyra Valkyria to Challenge Becky Lynch for Women’s Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam – Lyra Valkyria is officially heading to WWE SummerSlam with championship gold in her sights. On the July 14 episode of RAW, Valkyria defeated Bayley in a two-out-of-three falls match to become the new number one contender for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
The high-stakes bout was a rematch of sorts following their recent triple threat encounter at WWE Evolution, where Becky Lynch retained the title by pinning Bayley. This time, it was Valkyria who emerged victorious in a decisive showdown that spanned multiple commercial breaks and highlighted both women’s resilience.
Bayley took the first fall early in the match, surprising Valkyria with a quick roll-up. However, Valkyria battled back and tied things up with a well-executed cradle counter to Bayley’s second roll-up attempt.
In the final fall, Bayley locked in a crossface, but Valkyria escaped and avoided disaster as Bayley attempted to drag her back to the center of the ring. With the crowd rallying behind her, Valkyria launched into her signature Nightwing finisher to score the pinfall victory and secure her title shot.
Following the win, Becky Lynch made her way to the stage, holding up the Women’s Intercontinental Championship and taunting her future challenger. The two shared a tense staredown, further building anticipation for their SummerSlam clash.
The matchup at Evolution offered a preview of their chemistry, but this time the spotlight will be on just Lynch and Valkyria in singles competition. For Valkyria, it’s her biggest opportunity yet to make a statement on the main roster. For Lynch, it’s another test in her decade-long run as one of WWE’s most decorated female performers.
