CM Punk Wins Gauntlet Match, Will Face Gunther at SummerSlam – CM Punk is officially headed to WWE SummerSlam, where he will challenge Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The announcement follows Punk’s victory in a high-stakes #1 Contender Gauntlet Match on the July 14 edition of RAW.
The match featured Bron Breakker, Penta, LA Knight, Jey Uso, and CM Punk, with the winner earning a championship opportunity at SummerSlam. In an intense bout that showcased the depth of RAW’s top talent, Punk overcame the odds in the final stretch to secure the win.
The gauntlet kicked off with Bron Breakker facing Penta. After ten minutes of explosive back-and-forth action, Breakker earned the first elimination by catching Penta mid-air with a spear following a springboard attempt—creating an instant highlight-reel moment.
LA Knight entered next and used his fresher condition to dominate early on. However, Breakker rallied by targeting Knight’s injured ribs and eventually eliminated the “Megastar” with another spear.
Next came Jey Uso, who shifted the energy of the match with his charisma and a burst of offense. But just as Uso looked to close in on a win, Bronson Reed made a surprise appearance, pushing Uso off the top rope. Breakker capitalized with a third consecutive spear to eliminate Uso.
With Breakker already worn down, the final entrant—CM Punk—took immediate control of the match. Despite Bronson Reed remaining at ringside, Punk held his own, even delivering his signature top-rope elbow drop. When Reed attempted to interfere again, Jey Uso returned to level the playing field. Punk followed up with a Go To Sleep to finally pin Breakker and punch his ticket to SummerSlam.
