Seth Rollins Addresses Knee Injury, Targets WrestleMania Return – Seth Rollins has officially addressed the knee injury he suffered at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, and it appears the former World Heavyweight Champion will be out of action for the foreseeable future.
Appearing as a guest host on The Rich Eisen Show, Rollins provided a detailed update on his condition and revealed that he expects a significant layoff. The injury occurred during his match against LA Knight on July 12, when Rollins attempted a springboard moonsault—something he’s executed many times before.
“I was doing a move I do all the time, a moonsault, and I landed on my feet. When I landed, I felt my knee kind of pop and buckle,” Rollins explained. “Monday, I was in Birmingham, Alabama… We tried to take a look at the knee. There was some imaging; it was a little too swollen, so we’re going to take another look, hopefully in a week or two… What I feel is that this is going to be me out for an extended period of time.”
The injury led directly to the match’s finish, as LA Knight quickly capitalized, hitting Rollins with a BFT and pinning him for the victory. While the swelling has made it difficult to get a definitive diagnosis, Rollins acknowledged the severity based on how his knee feels—and suggested fans may not see him back in a WWE ring until next year.
Still, Rollins remains optimistic about returning in time for WrestleMania season.
“I’ve always got WrestleMania in the back of my mind. Can I make it back for WrestleMania season? I feel good about that,” he added.
The timing of the injury is particularly significant given Rollins’ current involvement in one of RAW’s most prominent factions. Just one night after his loss, Roman Reigns made his surprise return to WWE, targeting Rollins’ stablemates Bron Breakker and Paul Heyman. With Rollins now injured and out of action, the group’s status heading into SummerSlam is unclear.
This marks yet another serious injury to Rollins’ right knee—the same one that required reconstructive surgery in 2015 and forced him to miss WrestleMania 32. While there’s hope he can return before WrestleMania 41, WWE has yet to release an official statement or timeline on his recovery.
