Adam Page Reflects on World Title Match at All In: “I Didn’t Expect to Be in This Position” – “Hangman” Adam Page is preparing to headline another major AEW pay-per-view, and this time, it feels different. Set to face Jon Moxley in a Texas Deathmatch for the AEW World Championship at All In: Texas on July 12, Page admits he once doubted he’d ever return to this level.
Speaking with Shak Wrestling of CBS Sports, Page shared candid thoughts on his journey back to the top following his title loss three years ago.
“I did not expect to be in this position. As hard as I’ve tried. It’s been three years and I hadn’t gotten here,” Page said. “This is our biggest show in North America ever. I’m headlining it and I intend to win the world championship… There are a lot of times I felt that was it for me, as far as these big opportunities.”
Page acknowledged that his own mindset may have hindered his earlier momentum.
“A lot of that boils down to me. Who I was deciding to be. The kind of attitude I had did not lead me to these opportunities, unfortunately. Or maybe in this case, fortunately, because now I have the chance. In some weird way, all of that will have been worth it.”
He also reflected on the challenges of holding the championship during his first run, admitting that he was unprepared for what came after the initial triumph.
“I had worked so hard for so long to win the world championship. That’s where my vision was. But I probably didn’t take a lot of time thinking about the morning, week, or month after,” he explained. “There’s a different kind of drive a person must have to win something versus keep it.”
Now, with a second opportunity in reach, Page believes he’s approaching things with new perspective.
“This time around, challenging for the world championship, I understand that difference more. Should I win at All In, maybe I have a different approach.”
Page also praised the current backstage environment in AEW, drawing comparisons to the company’s early days.
“It very much feels for me personally, week to week, like a lot of the same magic of those first few weeks and months of AEW TV,” he said. “Wanting to work together towards a common goal. Wanting to make something exciting, new, fun and fresh. The trajectory has felt upwards. I’m grateful to still be here and a part of it.”
With a career-defining match ahead against a fierce rival in Moxley, and a chance to reclaim the AEW World Championship, Page is stepping into All In: Texas with renewed drive — and something to prove.
