Ludwig Kaiser Appears as El Grande Americano on WWE RAW – With Chad Gable temporarily sidelined due to an upcoming surgery in early July, WWE wasted no time in continuing the El Grande Americano storyline with a surprise substitution.
Gable, who “unofficially” plays the masked persona of El Grande Americano, was written off television during the June 23 episode of RAW. The storyline exit occurred after Penta attacked Gable backstage. Ludwig Kaiser was seen lingering in the background during the segment, raising speculation that WWE may be planting seeds for him to assume the El Grande Americano identity in Gable’s absence.
On the June 30 RAW, a new version of El Grande Americano appeared in a backstage segment involving American Made. As Julius and Brutus Creed spoke to Cathy Kelley about the uncertainty surrounding the faction’s future without Gable, the masked man appeared to everyone’s surprise. Noticeably taller and with a distinct physique, it was clear to anyone watching that the new El Grande Americano was Ludwig Kaiser.
Though commentary and WWE’s on-screen talent didn’t name him, the visual confirmation was deliberate. American Made reacted with visible confusion and unease as Kaiser — wearing the El Grande costume — stared them down without saying a word, nodded, and walked away.
This development appears to be WWE’s way of keeping the American Made faction active during Gable’s absence, while also inserting Kaiser into a unique storyline position. Whether this is a short-term cover or the beginning of a deeper character shift for Kaiser remains to be seen, but fans can expect the situation to unfold in the coming weeks.
With Gable expected to be out for some time, Kaiser’s portrayal of El Grande Americano looks set to become a regular fixture on RAW.
