Roxanne Perez Named Raquel Rodriguez’ Partner – Just minutes after capturing the WWE World Tag Team Championships for the second time, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh wasted no time asserting themselves into the bigger picture of WWE’s championship scene.
During a backstage segment on the June 30 episode of RAW, the new champions interrupted an ongoing conversation between RAW General Manager Adam Pearce and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Balor raised the subject of the Women’s Tag Team Titles, which were recently left in limbo following Liv Morgan’s injury.
Balor acknowledged Raquel Rodriguez’s efforts as a fighting champion and suggested that rather than stripping her of the titles, WWE should allow her to defend them with a new partner. He proposed former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez as a fitting replacement.
Pearce and Aldis agreed to consider the idea, but not without a condition.
Aldis declared that if Balor and McDonagh want their recommendation to be taken seriously, they would need to prove themselves as worthy champions. As a result, Pearce and Aldis announced that, at Evolution, Perez and Rodriguez will defend their titles in a multi-brand match—taking on teams from RAW, SmackDown, and NXT.
So while the titles haven’t officially been declared vacant, Roxanne Perez is now filling in as Raquel’s tag partner, effectively making her a co-holder of the titles on an interim basis, pending the results of the upcoming multi-brand defense.
