CM Punk Says Women’s WarGames Match Deserves Survivor Series Main Event – CM Punk believes the Women’s WarGames Match deserves to headline WWE Survivor Series, even though he expects the Men’s WarGames Match to close the show in San Diego.
During an appearance on Up & Adams on Wednesday, the World Heavyweight Champion told host Kay Adams that both WarGames matches are loaded with major names, but he personally feels the women’s bout has earned top billing — and admits he’s biased because AJ Lee is part of the match.
“I’m a little biased. My wife is obviously in that match and I’m excited to watch it. I think the women should be the main event, selfishly. I do probably think us guys will main event. There’s two titles involved in there, they’re not on the line, but star power is off the charts. But I also think the star power is off the charts when it comes to the women.”
Punk described AJ Lee’s return and involvement in a WarGames setting as a major moment for WWE, highlighting the unique dynamic she brings to the matchup. He also praised the rest of the babyface team, which includes IYO SKY, Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss.
“AJ Lee coming back to wrestling and being in a cage match is a big deal. She gets to punch Becky Lynch in the face, I can only imagine how good that is going to feel. IYO Sky, Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, just a huge all-star, blue-eyed, babyface dream team.”
Punk then made a pop-culture comparison, likening the women’s team to the lineup from the 1985 film The Breakfast Club.
“It’s almost like The Breakfast Club. They have their Bender, they have their princess, they have their nerd, they have their jock, and they have their crazy goth, Rhea Ripley. I don’t know, it’s just something about that team.”
The Women’s WarGames Match at the November 29 Premium Live Event will see Ripley, Bliss, SKY, Flair, and AJ Lee take on Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Asuka, Kairi Sane, and Becky Lynch. Punk will compete in the Men’s WarGames Match, teaming with Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Cody Rhodes against Logan Paul, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar, and Drew McIntyre.
