JBL Reacts to CM Punk Phone Incident During WrestleMania 42 Weekend

John Bradshaw Layfield shared his thoughts on the recent incident involving CM Punk during WrestleMania 42 weekend, where footage showed Punk slapping a phone out of a fan’s hand.

The situation, which was reported by TMZ, involved a fan filming AJ Lee and Bayley in a hotel lobby. Punk reacted by knocking the phone away, sparking discussion online about whether his actions were justified.

Speaking on Something To Wrestle, JBL made it clear he understood Punk’s reaction and did not view it as a major issue.

“I don’t blame him. That’s his wife, and I don’t blame him one at all. He’s taking care of his wife. He’s protecting her, and I think I would have done probably the same thing, right or wrong. I have no idea if it’s right or wrong. I don’t know what the laws are regarding it. I don’t think it was an invasion of privacy, and if somebody asked him not to do it, he should have stopped. And getting the phone slapped out of your hand, that’s not a big deal. So what, you know, hey, you have a story the rest of your life to tell about it. But I don’t think it’s a big deal, and I don’t blame CM Punk for doing that,” JBL said.

JBL also spoke about his own experience with fans during the same weekend. He noted that he did not encounter any problems, despite the large number of people in Las Vegas.

“I had none. There were a lot of fans. I stayed at the Horseshoe hotel and they were fantastic. The fans were very, very nice. Maybe I’m just not famous enough. Maybe nobody gives a shit about me. I had a lot of people tell me Bradshaw 316 and I appreciate all you guys for telling me that. A fan should know better than filming somebody in the bathroom. I mean, come on, that’s just basic human knowledge. It’s not something that you should have to have security for,” JBL said.

JBL added that basic boundaries should be respected, especially in private or sensitive settings. While the incident involving Punk continues to draw attention, JBL’s comments reflect a perspective that prioritizes personal space and respect.

The footage remains a topic of discussion among fans, but no further action has been reported following the incident.
