Triple H praised the main event of WrestleMania 42 Sunday, describing the match between Roman Reigns and CM Punk as one of the greatest he has ever seen.
Reigns defeated Punk to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, ending a two-year title drought in a physically demanding contest that closed the show in front of more than 55,000 fans.
Speaking on the SportsCenter Night Two post-show, Triple H highlighted the intensity and emotion both competitors brought to the ring.
“Just epic. You can see the passion and the pride of two guys that absolutely, to the very core of their soul, believe that they are the best in the world, and they’re out there to prove it to each other. They’re out there to prove it to the 55,000 plus fans that were here tonight. Everything about them screamed, ‘I have to show I am the best’, and you see it all the way down to the end, knock down, drag out, fight, that just someone won’t give. You finally get to the end of it, no one really loses. But Roman Reigns comes out the winner. Roman Reigns, the new World Heavyweight Champion, to me, one of the greatest matches I’ve ever seen, doesn’t get bigger.”
The match featured sustained physical exchanges and multiple near falls, with both men pushing through visible exhaustion. Reigns ultimately secured the victory after delivering a decisive spear to close the bout.
Triple H’s comments add to the strong reaction surrounding the match, which has already been widely discussed following WrestleMania 42. His endorsement positions the bout among the top matches in recent WWE history.
With Reigns now holding the World Heavyweight Championship, the result marks a major shift at the top of WWE’s main event scene coming out of WrestleMania.
