When both stars joined WWE earlier this year, Penta was featured on RAW, where he immediately became involved in an Intercontinental Championship program. Meanwhile, Rey Fenix debuted on SmackDown just ahead of WrestleMania 41. This split sparked fan speculation, but the report confirms it was done intentionally to preserve momentum for Penta while still introducing Fenix to WWE audiences.
“Sources indicate there are plans in the very near future to align Rey Fenix and Penta on the same roster and to present them as a team, the Lucha Brothers,” the report stated. “We are told, the idea behind debuting Rey Fenix on SmackDown pre-WrestleMania was done to keep Penta momentum on RAW uninterrupted during his Intercontinental Championship feud.”
This update builds on previous reports that WWE has long been eager to spotlight the duo as a tag team. The Lucha Brothers built a strong following in AEW and internationally due to their high-energy style, and WWE reportedly had an interest in booking them together from the moment they became free agents in fall 2024.
