Ricky Saints’ First Title Shot Set for April 1 NXT – April 1 will be a pivotal night for Ricky Saints as he gets his first shot at the NXT North American Championship. On the March 25th episode of WWE NXT, Saints sat down for an interview where he addressed the doubters in the locker room. When asked about the rumors suggesting he didn’t belong in NXT, Saints boldly asserted that his self-confidence had always been a driving force, even if it made others uncomfortable. He acknowledged that he had faced this challenge throughout his life, but it was precisely that confidence that had brought him to this point.
However, Saints’ words were cut short when NXT North American Champion Shawn Spears interrupted. Spears, who had been an influential figure in Saints’ past, took a seat across from him. He questioned why Saints had never considered joining The Culling, a faction that had helped elevate many talents. Saints responded by saying Spears knew he would turn the offer down, but Spears insisted that wasn’t the case. He referred to their past conversation in Philadelphia and reminded Saints of the moment he had talked him off a metaphorical ledge. Spears then added that Saints’ arrogance had created enemies everywhere he went, something that still lingered around him.
Saints, never one to back down, shot back, saying making enemies was part of climbing to the top. Spears, unphased, stated that he was already a champion with a tight-knit group of allies, unlike Saints. Saints responded by declaring that he was coming for the North American Championship.
As tensions boiled over, Spears attacked Saints later in the episode, using his championship belt to strike his challenger and further stoke the fire ahead of their title match.
Additionally, Trick Williams, reeling from his loss to Oba Femi for the NXT Championship, has called for a confrontation with Femi on April 1. Williams has struggled with his identity and character since dropping the title to Femi, and his frustration is mounting. Adding to the chaos, the mysterious faction known as Darkstate, consisting of Cutler James, Dion Lennox, Saquon Shugars, and Osiris Griffin, has made their presence felt. This group could play a significant role in the events leading up to NXT’s April 1 show.
