Miro Returns to the Ring Following AEW Departure – Miro has officially returned to in-ring competition just weeks after being granted his release from AEW. His first match back took place on February 22 at a Qatar Pro Wrestling event in Doha, Qatar, where he faced AAA Mega Champion Alberto Del Río.
Although Miro was healthy and available to wrestle, creative discussions surrounding him reportedly stalled throughout 2024. According to Fightful Select, there were initial talks about his direction in AEW, but communication eventually went “radio silent” for months before his release. Sources within AEW indicated that Miro had not been included in creative discussions for at least six months, leading many to believe he would never return to the company.
With Miro now a free agent, WWE is reportedly interested in bringing him back. Dave Meltzer previously noted that WWE has discussed creative ideas for Miro, though it remains unclear whether he has signed a contract or when he could make a return.
Miro originally joined AEW in 2020 after a run in WWE, where he found success as Rusev. With speculation surrounding his next move, fans will be watching closely to see if he makes his way back to WWE or continues his journey elsewhere.
