AEW Plans to Sign More Free Agents This Summer – AEW is in a big year as they need to get a TV deal done by the end of the year ahead of their current media rights contract expiring with Warner Bros. Discovery. The promotion has led to some notable talent signings, including Will Ospreay, Mercedes Mone, and Kazuchika Okada.
With big name talent acquisitions being made and the promotion recently having its first-ever firing spree, some fans thought they would be cutting back on bringing in new talent. That’s not the case.
Fightful Select reported that “AEW is looking to sign potential free agents this Summer.” It was added that Finn Balor’s name was on the list of talent they were looking at before he signed the new WWE deal.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer also noted that AEW is not stopping with free agent signings.
“I know that AEW is looking at people whose contracts are up. I mean, it’s not like, whether they get anyone that, I don’t know, but they’re definitely looking. You know, sometimes you think that they made this big, big investment with [Kazuchika] Okada, [Will] Ospreay and Mercedes ]Mone]. And maybe they’re not looking for other people. But, they still are,” Meltzer stated.
