Top Stars Rumored to Depart TNA – TNA Wrestling, which has seen a resurgence with the revival of the TNA brand, may face the departure of two of its top stars in the near future.
Amidst recent changes in management, including Scott D’Amore being replaced by Anthony Cicione as TNA President, talent within the promotion has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction. Despite the success of the TNA brand’s return at the Hard to Kill pay-per-view event in January, internal tensions seem to be brewing.
The Motor City Machine Guns, consisting of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, are rumored to be potentially leaving TNA. Reports suggest that they are scheduled to work for Smash Wrestling in London, Ontario, on April 21, which coincides with the post-PPV TV tapings for TNA. This departure from the usual schedule raises speculation about the status of their contracts with TNA.
According to Pwinsider, there is a belief among some insiders that Shelley and Sabin’s existing TNA deals may be expiring soon, possibly by the end of March. Their decision to prioritize the independent show over the TNA tapings could indicate that a new deal between the wrestlers and the promotion is unlikely.
The Motor City Machine Guns have been a formidable tag team since their formation in 2007, achieving success in various promotions including ROH and NJPW. Their tenure in TNA has seen them hold the World and X-Division Titles, in addition to being three-time Tag Team Champions. If their departure materializes, it would mark a significant loss for TNA Wrestling.
