Randy Orton Signs with SmackDown – Randy Orton, previously listed as a free agent following the 2023 WWE Draft, recently made a significant move by signing with WWE SmackDown during the latest episode on December 1.
During this episode, WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis extended an invitation to Orton to join the SmackDown roster. However, the situation became more intense as WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce also expressed a keen interest in having Orton on the Raw roster.
Amidst this decision-making process, Paul Heyman intervened, advising Orton to steer clear of SmackDown. Heyman then orchestrated an interference involving Solo Sikoa and Jey Uso. Orton found an unexpected ally in LA Knight, who engaged in a heated confrontation with Sikoa, leading to a brawl that spilled backstage.
Taking matters into his own hands, Orton executed his signature move, the RKO, on Jey Uso, firmly making his decision to sign with SmackDown. In a direct message to Heyman and Roman Reigns, Orton issued a warning, declaring, “Daddy’s back.”
Not stopping there, Orton continued to make his presence felt by delivering an RKO to Aldis before finalizing his allegiance with SmackDown.
This marks Orton’s return to the ring since his last match on the May 20, 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown, having been sidelined due to back surgery.
