Eric Bischoff: AEW’s Devil Storyline Irrelevant Post CM Punk’s WWE Return – In the aftermath of CM Punk’s surprising return to WWE at Survivor Series, Eric Bischoff weighed in on the ongoing Devil storyline in AEW. According to the WWE Hall of Famer, Punk’s comeback has significantly impacted the relevance of the AEW storyline involving the Devil mask, currently centered around MJF.
During his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff expressed that with Punk’s return, the intrigue surrounding the Devil storyline in AEW might now seem inconsequential. He hinted that the prolonged plot might have extended beyond its engaging point, potentially causing a decline in fan interest.
Bischoff also hinted at an upcoming clash between MJF, Samoa Joe, and members of The Devil’s faction on Dynamite. The ongoing mystery surrounding the identity behind the Devil’s mask has kept fans curious, but Bischoff suggested that Punk’s return might overshadow the impact of the reveal, leading to a potential underwhelming response from the audience.
“I think once Punk showed up at Survivor Series, whoever’s behind the mask is going to be a popcorn fart,” he said. “It’s going to be something that people are going to hopefully forget very quickly. It’s already gone on too long. Shocked that it’s still going. Again, if it’s Jungle Jack Perry, phew –- horribly bad.”
