Update on MJF’s status for AEW Worlds End – As noted, AEW’s World Heavyweight Champion MJF sustained legitimate injuries during the main event of AEW Full Gear 2023 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, where he participated in two matches.
After teaming up with Samoa Joe to defeat The Gunns in the ROH Tag Team Title match during the pre-show, MJF was attacked by The Gunns, leading to his hospitalization. However, Adam Cole’s interference prevented Jay White from claiming the World Heavyweight Title by default until MJF returned for the main event.
The decision to integrate the storyline injury faced backlash as MJF indeed suffered a hip injury, necessitating an adjustment, and a shoulder injury. Thankfully, these injuries won’t keep him away from TV appearances.
Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that the injury occurred while MJF executed a cutter on White outside the ring during the World Title match. Despite grappling with considerable pain, MJF is expected to recover in time for the December pay-per-view at Nassau Coliseum, where he’s scheduled to face Samoa Joe.
“He’s dealing with a lot of pain, but apparently he’ll be ready for the pay-per-view, the December show in Nassau Coliseum against Samoa Joe,” Meltzer noted.
