Tony Khan Declined CW Deal for ROH – Last year, Tony Khan had the opportunity to secure a television deal for the ROH brand before eventually moving it to HonorClub.
Reports surfaced about NWA, owned by Billy Corgan, signing deals with The CW Network for NWA Power and a reality show. Following this, WWE announced that NXT would shift to CW in 2024. However, a controversial incident during the NWA Samhain pay-per-view jeopardized the NWA’s TV deal with The CW Network, potentially leading to the show airing on The CW app.
According to Nick Hausman of Haus Of Wrestling, a high-level CW executive approached Khan in June 2022 at the LA Forum to discuss the possibility of bringing ROH programming to the network. It remains unclear whether these discussions occurred before talks with The CW and NWA or WWE NXT were initiated.
Khan opted not to proceed with the talks, citing his decision to abstain from new deals for ROH until AEW TV rights come into play the following year. He believes that by waiting, he will have more options and greater leverage in the marketplace. Despite finding the CW executive amiable and enjoyable to converse with, Khan deemed it an inappropriate time to finalize a deal. It was mentioned that the network is open to hosting multiple pro wrestling products on their platform, having engaged in talks with at least two other notable pro wrestling promotions, distinct from the NWA or WWE NXT, in recent times.
