MJF Sets New Record with Epic World Title Defense Against Kenny Omega – The AEW record books are set for a change after the events of Saturday night. In an incredible showdown that is already being hailed as a Match of the Year contender, MJF successfully defended his AEW World Championship against Kenny Omega in the main event of AEW Collision.
The bout was a grueling and epic encounter that stretched over 30 minutes, even spanning multiple commercial breaks. MJF ultimately secured the victory, paying homage to his friend and fellow ROH World Tag-Team Champion Adam Cole with a Panama Sunrise and following it up with his signature Heat-seeker finisher for the pinfall.
At one point, Don Callis made his way down to ringside at one point to distract Omega, but was tossed by the referee. After the match, MJF and Omega embraced as the camera cut to Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, Wardlow, and Bullet Club Gold looking on.
This victory propels MJF to a new milestone as he now sets the record for the longest-reigning AEW World Champion of all time. MJF is currently at 344 days as AEW World Champion. Omega holds the record with 346 days. MJF would tie Omega on Monday, October 30 and surpass him on Tuesday, October 31.
