Ilja Dragunov Vs Carmelo Hayes III Set for NXT Halloween Havoc Night 2 – Carmelo Hayes has secured a championship opportunity, earning the right to challenge NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov at NXT Halloween Havoc Night Two on October 31.
On the October 17 episode of WWE NXT, Hayes was originally scheduled to face Baron Corbin and Dijak in a match where the winner would become the No. 1 contender for the NXT Championship. However, Cody Rhodes, acting as the guest general manager, added Trick Williams to the match before it took place.
During the bout, Hayes teased the possibility of turning on Williams during a brawl with their fellow contenders, but they ultimately remained united. Later in the evening, Williams was mysteriously attacked backstage and subsequently removed from the match as he was taken to the hospital.
In the thrilling three-way main event, Carmelo Hayes emerged victorious. He secured the win by pinning Dijak after Baron Corbin hit him with the End of Days, allowing Hayes to capitalize with his finishing move, the Nothing but Net.
This victory sets up a championship rematch between Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov, as Dragunov defeated Hayes to capture the NXT Championship at NXT No Mercy. Hayes previously defeated Dragunov to retain the championship at NXT Great American Bash.
As of the current announcement, the Ilja Dragunov vs. Carmelo Hayes match is the only bout confirmed for NXT Halloween Havoc Night Two.
