Bully Ray Suggests Area AEW Could Learn from WWE

Bully Ray Suggests Area AEW Could Learn from WWE – Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray shared his perspective on AEW’s approach to catering to newer viewers, suggesting that the company could learn from WWE in this regard.

Ray emphasized the importance of expanding the audience beyond the hardcore fanbase, a criticism that has been directed at AEW in the past.

Ray pointed out WWE’s success in reminding viewers of its past while also attracting new eyes to the product. He commended WWE for revitalizing its product, citing increased attendance, strong merchandise sales, and overall success in recent times.

“Look at the extent to which they have bounced back — to where their houses are full, their merchandise is off the charts, and everything they’re doing right now is turning to gold,” Ray said of WWE.

His comments highlight the need for AEW to strike a balance between serving its existing audience and drawing in new viewers to continue growing and thriving in the wrestling industry.

“AEW needs to cater to newer viewers the way WWE does,” Ray said on “Busted Open” this week. “The WWE, as big as they are right now — if you take a lot at the metrics, they might even be bigger than the Attitude Era. Still, they are reminding you [of their past] and bringing new viewers up-to-speed … new eyes. This is where AEW needs to try and move forward — in bringing new eyes to the product. Otherwise, they’re just bouncing back to their own viewers.”
