AEW Grand Slam Tournament: First Two Matches Revealed – The AEW Dynamite Grand Slam tournament, designed to determine the challenger for AEW World Champion MJF at the upcoming Dynamite Grand Slam event, has its first two exciting matches, taking place tomorrow night.
One of the quarterfinal bouts will feature a mentor-versus-trainee showdown as former TNT Champion Darby Allin faces off against Nick Wayne. Wayne recently joined AEW and had been teaming with Allin. However, their partnership took an unexpected turn as Wayne expressed dissatisfaction with Allin’s quick reconciliation with AR Fox after an attack on Wayne by Fox. Allin’s decision to aid Fox and make amends didn’t sit well with Wayne, setting the stage for this intense clash.
In the other quarterfinal matchup, Roderick Strong will take on Trent Beretta. Strong, who has been at odds with his former friend Adam Cole due to Cole’s alliance with MJF, is determined to win the tournament and challenge MJF himself. Beretta’s stock has been on the rise in recent weeks with his involvement in high-stakes and chaotic matches, making him a formidable contender.
The semifinals of the tournament will be held this Saturday on AEW Collision, bringing fans closer to the highly anticipated final match.
The winner of the tournament will earn the right to face MJF for the AEW World Championship at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York, on Wednesday, September 20th. This championship opportunity adds even more excitement to the upcoming Dynamite Grand Slam event.
