Tony Khan Comments On Sting’s AEW Run – During 2015, Sting’s illustrious career appeared to reach its conclusion due to a neck injury that forced him into retirement.
However, Sting made a remarkable comeback, initially participating in a cinematic match at AEW Revolution 2021 before fully re-entering the wrestling arena at AEW Double or Nothing 2021. Since his resurgence, Sting has maintained an unbeaten record within AEW, frequently participating in multiple matches annually.
During an interview on the Chase McCabe Show, Tony Khan, the President of AEW, lauded Sting’s accomplishments. He discussed the endorsement of AEW’s vision by wrestling luminaries such as Jeff Jarrett, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, and more.
Khan emphasized Sting’s paramount importance in pro wrestling, referring to him as one of the industry’s legendary figures and one of his personal favorites. He highlighted Sting’s ongoing significant role within AEW and underscored the monumental achievement of coaxing Sting out of retirement. Notably, Sting’s AEW journey has been marked by an undefeated streak, a testament to his enduring prowess.
“When you talk about some of the biggest names in pro wrestling, for me, it starts and ends with Sting. He’s one of the all-time legends, he’s one of my all-time favorites. He’s still a huge part of AEW. One of the greatest things we’ve accomplished is bringing Sting out of retirement. He is still wrestling to this day. He is undefeated in AEW, in fact, and on the greatest run of his career, right now, here in AEW,” he said.
Sting’s compelling journey continues as he gears up to compete at AEW All In. In a high-stakes match, he will team up with Darby Allin to take on Swerve Strickland and AR Fox in a coffin match, promising yet another thrilling chapter in his storied career.
